Wood Machinist

Location: Grangemouth, UK

Salary: £27,501 + 10% Shift Allowance = £30,251

Sure Recruitment are looking for a Wood/Timber Machinist to join our prestigious client in the Grangemouth area. This position is temporary to permanent. You will be an integral part of the Operations Team, who will contribute to output efficiencies whilst maintaining quality in a safe working environment, using visual inspection and good housekeeping.

Main Duties:

To support to mill in operating designated machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
To undertake general tasks within the timber processing plant at the discretion of and under the direction of the mill supervisors.
To safely operate designated mechanical handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner and achieve targets in loading, unloading, storing and handling of goods as defined by the company
Carry out designated tasks in a safe and timely manner and support site to maintain outstanding EHS performance.
Maintain and take responsibility for housekeeping in working area.
Meet targets set by the company in terms of timely and accurate loading/unloading of vehicles.
Ensure all handling, loading and storage of goods is carried out and maintained in a safe manner.
Ensure routine checks are carried out in a timely and accurate manner.
Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely and accurate manner
Shifts:

Monday-Friday
Alternating shifts
One week dayshift – 0600-1400
One week backshift – 1400-2200

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience Required

Critical:

Experience working as a Wood/Timber Machinist
Essential:

Experience working on Weinig moulders.
Good communication skills.
Good grasp of Health & Safety requirements in an Operational environment
General physical ability.
Meet general competency standards set by the company and to comply with relevant ATOs.
Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to machinery or mechanical handling equipment to be used.
Awareness and understanding of health and safety standards applicable to working in a timber processing plant and timber storage and distribution site.
Ability to carry out routine inspection (e.g daily safety checks) as required.
Ability to understand, complete and maintain all documentation associated and required by the role.
Ability to work as a team player within the timber processing plant and overall site operation.
