acting as recruitment agencies by reading our advice here.

Sure Recruitment are aware of the rise in hiring scams.

Scammers have become highly sophisticated and subtle in how they target job seekers, which makes it difficult for jobseekers to spot the differences between genuine and fake job adverts.

Sure Recruitment recommends that you be vigilant in giving out any personal details in response to a job advert. Looking out for any obvious and subtle signs that a job advert may not be genuine.

We are aware of scams being conducted via WhatsApp/ text messages and email, whereby the scammers act as a recruitment agency in order to gain personal/bank details as well as charging placement/introduction fees in some instances.

  • Double check the contact details on any advert or application corresponds with the details on the company’s website. www.surerec.com has the contact details for our offices, along with the relevant mobile numbers that they may use.
  • Be alert to poor spelling and grammar.
  • Check that the name of the recruitment business and any email should be the correct domain of the business they’re representing, in our case the emails will end @surerec.com, @sure-ni.com or @surerecruitmentgroup.com

  • Jobs Aware : www.jobsaware.co.uk

DON’T..

  • Don’t give your personal details out without being sure that the individual you are communicating with does indeed represent the employment business stated. Double check that the advert you have found is current and listed on the website of the recruitment agency.
  • Don’t pay for work finding services, a legally compliant recruitment business would ever charge you to register with it for work finding services. This is a breach of the legislation that all recruitment businesses are required to comply with.
  • Don’t communicate with agents that do not have a professional email address or are not listed as working for a recruitment business on its website or verified LinkedIn page.
  • Don’t be rushed into providing details, if you are in any doubt contact the Head Office of the company in question – in our case call 0141 433 7000 or email glasgow@surerec.com.
